Beyond the Classroom
Athletics, theater, service, and a full school life.
At King’s, extracurriculars aren’t extras — they’re part of the whole training of a person. Competing, performing, and serving are all part of what it means to grow here.
Athletics
Compete well. Play with character.
Athletics have long been part of the whole training of the individual. At King’s we use the team sport environment to foster a cooperative spirit and hone physical fitness. Coaches seek to develop a strong work ethic, positive attitude, humility, and other Christian characteristics in their players — while also helping athletes develop the skills necessary to compete at a high level. King’s teams are the recipients of many trophies and compete against area Christian and home school teams.
Team Sports Offered
- Co-ed Soccer — Grades 8–12
- Boys & Girls Volleyball — Grades 5–12
- Boys & Girls Basketball — Grades 5–12
To participate, a student must have had a physical within the last year, the annual athletic packet completed, and the sports fee paid to the office before the first practice.
Theater
Perform. Write. Build. Tell stories.
The King’s Academy believes that graduates will be required — in their lifetimes — to present ideas, messages, reports, and sermons to live audiences ranging from few to many. To prepare them for that opportunity, TKA is committed to a vital theater program that has been a cornerstone of our extracurricular offerings from the beginning.
Students have access to both middle school and high school theater electives covering acting games, script writing, set and prop construction, and skit performances. Each spring, middle and high school students come together for the spring production — alternating between a play and a musical. Students may also work on set, prop, and costume design or backstage during performances.
Service & Clubs
Serve first. Lead from there.
Jesus told us that the greatest citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven are those who serve with a humble heart. TKA creates a year-long service calendar with daily, weekly, quarterly, and yearly opportunities.
Daily & Weekly
Students do daily chores to keep their rooms and our building in order. Each week the school recycles, and each quarter students complete a community service project.
King's Mission Immersion (KMI)
Each spring, the school year culminates in a full week of community service — locally, nationally, or internationally. One of the most formative experiences King’s students have.
Clubs
Chess Club, Student Council, Quiz Bowl, and Worship — each one challenges students to reach higher and explore their gifts and callings beyond the classroom.
